The Plot

Four People, Three Couples, Two Sisters, One Unforgivable Betrayal.

Emily and Josephine have always shared everything. They’re sisters, flat mates and best friends.

Just before Emily gets married, Josephine meets the perfect man and they know that things will now start to change. However, nothing can prepare them for what or who one of them is willing to give up for love.

The Review

Well! I wasn’t emotionally prepared for this book. I can say that I didn’t cry, but I felt incredibly emotionally drained by the end of it.

It’s very obvious from the synopsis that ‘something’ is going to happen. When it actually happened though, I was crushed. I felt heartbroken.

Part of the ending came as a complete shock and I had to read one particular page about four times to actually take in what I had just read. I didn’t want to believe it.

How such a simple story has been made into such a fantastic, intense & emotional book, I will never know. It takes a special kind of author to produce a book of this calibre.

The book draws you in straight away and really does get straight to the point. With being a fairly small book, it has to.

Had I have had the time, I’m fairly sure I could have read this book within one day. Once I’d picked it up, I didn’t want to put it back down again. I felt invested in the whole thing.

The ending for me felt like an ending. It really felt to me like, that was it. I was talking to another blogger about it afterwards and she saw it as a new beginning. We both interpreted it in completely different ways.

I also need to give kudos to the same blogger who, after reading the book, asked me if I had gone back and re-read the prologue after finishing.

I hadn’t, so she told me I should! It gave me goosebumps. I’ve never gone back to a prologue before, but you definitely should with this book.

I highly recommend this book, but be prepared and possibly have some tissues nearby just in case. To me, this book is 4.5 stars, out of 5.

I have since bought Laura Pearson’s first book, ‘Missing Pieces’ and I look forward to reading more from her.
