I devoured this book within the day. My initial reaction was simply ‘wow’.
I’ve had a chance to let it sink in a bit more and I’m still thinking ‘wow’.
The story follows three women who all went to school together. Straight away, one of them is murdered, found by a local, older lady, Elizabeth. As you would expect with a good thriller, everything and everyone get tangled up in a massive web.
The writing in this novel is breathtaking. By chapter 6 I finally let the tears fall and in all honesty, I’d been holding them in from the very beginning. The book is absolutely heartbreaking throughout.
Told from the points of view of Elizabeth & Rachel, as the story unfolds you *think* you know how how it’s going to end but it took me three guesses. When I eventually did realise, I shouted it at the cat, then told myself I was being daft, then said it again. I felt that saying it out loud meant that if I was right, I was REALLY right.
I’m obsessed with trying to figure out the ending and always feel just a tad smug when I do. Haha.
It really was the most incredible book and I can’t wait to read more by this author. I have two of her other books on my shelf and I shall be picking them up real soon.
For now though, I’m just going to revel in the beauty that was ‘Forget Me Not’.
Massive FIVE stars from me.
