⚜️ BOOK REVIEW ⚜️
It’s taken me long enough, but here it is, my review for ‘The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair’ 🤍🤍
⚜️ Firstly, yet again I would like to thank Ali (@the_sunday_feeling) for recommending this book to me.
⚜️ At 615 pages it’s not a short book, but oh my goodness it is so worth every page. I fell in love with @joeldicker’s writing from page one and I absolutely flew through the book. To say that this book is translated, it really is superbly written.
⚜️ I gave this book a whopping five stars and if I could have given more, I would have. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
⚜️ The premise of the book is a bit odd. Essentially a 35 year old man falls in love in a 15 year old girl. Not ideal in anyone’s world, BUT, it is handled gracefully. Harry does not even kiss Nola, knowing that it is wrong. He wants to wait until she is 18 to start a proper relationship with her, but oh my, he loves her. They fall head over heels for each other but then, Nola disappears. For 33 years nobody knows what’s happened, but Harry’s prodigy, Marcus is here to find the truth and prove Harry’s innocence – but is he right and will he ever discover the whole truth? Who is Nola??
⚜️ Marcus starts out a self involved arsehole. But he changes. He risks everything for Harry and I loved him as a character. BUT, His mother is even better. She is hilarious. If nothing else, read the book for her. I LOVED her!!
⚜️ I want to write more. I want to tell you everything about this book, but I can’t. You need to read it yourself and appreciate it’s wonder.
⚜️ Let me know if you read/buy this book and if you do, I hope you love it as much as I did.
⚜️ What’s my favourite book of all time? The Truth About The Harry Quebert Affair, of course. 🤍🤍
